What is Jack and Irene’s WISH Haven Foundation?
Jack and Irene’s WISH Haven Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to support the development and long-term sustainability of WISH House. The Foundation focuses on property acquisition, capital development, resident financial assistance, and responsible expansion.
How is WISH House structured?
WISH House operates as a licensed Ohio Residential Care Facility. The operating entity manages daily care, staffing, and compliance. The Foundation supports capital stability and structured assistance so access is not limited only to those with full private funds.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. The Foundation is recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity. Donations are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
Where does my donation go?
Donations are directed toward:
• Securing and developing the first licensed WISH House
• Resident assistance for qualified individuals
• Future small-home expansion to increase access
Funds are allocated according to board oversight and documented priorities.
Is this model sustainable long term?
Yes. Donors may designate contributions toward capital development, resident assistance, or general Foundation support. Designated funds are tracked and applied accordingly.
How do you ensure accountability?
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors. Financial oversight includes documented board review, compliance with nonprofit reporting standards, and structured financial controls.
Is this model sustainable long term?
Yes. WISH House is built as a blended model. Residents contribute private pay revenue. The Foundation provides structured support when appropriate. Expansion occurs only when financial and operational benchmarks are met.
Why create a new model instead of donating to an existing facility?
WISH was created to address a specific gap. Many families do not need nursing home care but cannot sustain care safely at home. The small-home, nurse-led model combined with nonprofit support directly addresses affordability and access without institutional scale.
Who is WISH House designed for?
WISH House serves adults who need assistance with daily living, medication supervision, memory support, or safety oversight, but who do not require skilled nursing facility level care. Less than 8 hours of skilled nursing care is licensed to be delivered PER HOME.
Who would not be appropriate for WISH House?
Individuals requiring ventilator support, continuous skilled nursing interventions, or hospital-level care would require a higher level of service. A clinical assessment is completed prior to admission.
Is WISH House licensed?
Yes. WISH House operates under Ohio Residential Care Facility licensure requirements and adheres to state regulatory standards.
What is included in the monthly rate?
Housing, meals, assistance with activities of daily living, medication management, structured engagement, and care coordination are included. A written residency agreement outlines all services and any additional fees.
Is WISH House private pay or Medicaid?
The initial home operates as private pay. As expansion occurs, additional homes are planned to include Medicaid waiver participation once operational stability is established.
How do I know if it is time to consider assisted living?
If safety concerns, medication complexity, isolation, falls, or caregiver exhaustion are becoming consistent issues, it is time to evaluate structured residential support.
What makes WISH House different?
WISH House is intentionally small, nurse-led, and purpose-centered. The environment is residential, not institutional. Care decisions are structured, accountable, and relationship-based.
What happens if a resident’s funds become limited over time?
WISH House is designed to operate responsibly and sustainably. Residents and families participate in financial planning prior to admission to ensure alignment between care needs and long-term affordability.
If circumstances change, the Foundation may review the situation for potential short-term assistance based on established criteria and available funds. Assistance is not automatic and is subject to board oversight and sustainability standards.
When appropriate, families are supported in evaluating alternative funding sources or care transitions to ensure continued safety and dignity.
